How do I get there, and where can I park?
PhysioAthletica is just a short 2 to 3-minute walk from Gordon Railway Station and bus stop. There is also ample parking close by in both the council and shopping centre car parks.
What can I expect on my first visit?
When you arrive at PhysioAthletica, you will be greeted with a warm, friendly welcome. Your first consultation includes: - a review of your history and any problems or injuries - a review of any x-rays or scans - appropriate physical examination and preliminary diagnosis.
What should I bring to my first session?
When you attend your first physio session you should bring the following with you: - any referrals or letters from your doctor or surgeon - any previous scans or x-rays of the problem area - any past exercise sheets.
What should I wear?
Wearing clothes that you feel comfortable in is important. Due to some of the exercises, it can be helpful if you wear separate items of clothing, eg. tops and bottoms.
What can I expect at each follow up visit?
When you attend your follow up visits, you can expect to be treated by the same physiotherapist. We’ll re-assess your problem area or injury and provide further treatment and exercises based on your progress.
What might my treatment include?
Each session will include an accurate examination and assessment of the injury or problem area. We may provide manual therapy and soft tissue releases to assist in healing the injury, in addition to education, advice and taping where required. Your treatment may also include the using the latest electrotherapy equipment and exercise therapy, depending on your specific injury or problem.
How long does each session take?
Appointments at PhysioAthletica ensure that our physios have ample time to understand and listen to your concerns and provide you with the best treatment available: - Our initial consultations are 40 minutes, please allow 60 minutes for your appointment. - Our standard or follow-up appointments are 20 minutes, please allow up to 45 minutes for your appointment.
How many physiotherapy sessions will I need?
The number of sessions is dependent upon your problem/injury. On average, most patients require three to six sessions.
Is it covered by Medicare?
In some very specific circumstances your doctor may be able to organise for up to five treatments per year that are subsidised by Medicare.
Is it covered by private health insurance?
Physiotherapy is covered by all funds for patients with extras cover. Please check with your individual health fund and level of extras cover for full benefit details.
What payments do you accept?
We accept cash, EFTPOS and all credit cards, excluding American Express.
What is your cancellation policy?
We understand that sometimes emergencies arise. If you need to cancel, you must provide at least 48 hours’ notice, otherwise the full fee will be charged. We charge full fee for no-shows.
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
No referral is required from your doctor however we can liaise with your doctor if necessary (and only with your prior permission). In the event that your injury is related to workers’ compensation, a motor vehicle accident or Department of Veteran Affairs, then you will need a referral from your GP/doctor.
Do you treat Workcover patients?
We do treat Workcover patients. You must ensure that all supporting documentation for your claim is provided to proceed with your treatment.
How soon can I get an appointment?
We can usually assist with an appointment time within a few days. In the case of an emergency, we will always do our best to accommodate patients with an appointment as soon as possible.
What conditions do you treat?
Our clinic treats a variety of conditions including: sports injuries - pre and post-operative joint replacements - muscle tear/sprain/strain - neck pain - back pain - hip/knee/ankle pain - shoulder/elbow/wrist pain - pelvis pain - headaches/ concussion.
Do you give session summaries and/or home exercises?
Home exercises are provided when the physiotherapist deems it appropriate for the injury management plan.
